About Kedington

Kedington is a UK village, located between Haverhill, Hundon and Claire, in Suffolk county. For over 1000 years Kedington has been the home to a few hundred people, and in recent times, the population has grown to nearly 2000, making it one of the largest villages in the county, if not the UK as a whole.

In the late 13th century, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul was built in Kedington, and has remained one of the oldest and most-treasured churches in the country due to remaining completely unmodernised. Many local villagers and organisations have helped with fundraising activities to raise money for the church’s restoration fund.

The village contains two pubs, The White Horse and The Barnadiston Arms, and even a primary school for local schoolchildren aged 4 to 9.

Unlike many other local villages, Kedington has a number of other facilities more often seen in larger towns. A community centre, which doubles as a county council library, is situated next to a large playing field, with ample parking. Many sports clubs in and around the village hold events at the grounds, whilst annual fairs and events, such as The Meadowlark or Easter Egg Hunt, are also held there each year.

The Royal British Legion has a meeting place within the village; the Legion Hall. This is also available to be rented out to the public for occasions such as birthday parties, corporate functions and wedding anniversaries.

There are plenty of local parks for children and adults alike to play sports and enjoy the sunshine, and for the slightly more adventurous types, there are a number of local walking trails running in and around the village.

In terms of shops, the village has a central parade which contains a corner shop and post office, a hairdressers, a butchers shop, and a chinese takeaway. Three or four minutes walk from the parade is a mini supermarket, that has recently been expanded to include a wide selection of chilled and frozen foods.

Every Friday evening (up until 7:30pm) a popular local chip shop also send out a chip van to serve fish’n'chips to the public outside the mini supermarket.

There is also a small doctors surgery located near the main park that is open for a few hours, one day a week.

Overall, the village of Kedington is a much sought-after place to live, providing the quiet life for those who want it, but also providing ample facilities for the local community. The school is very popular and places are in high-demand, while the housing is good and remains affordable. There are good transport links into the nearest town, and a number of local taxi companies also operate in the area.
